Buffalo Creek & South Side

Buffalo Creek passes through the south side of Glencoe, part of the Crow River watershed that drains northeast toward the Mississippi. U.S. Route 212 also runs along the south side of the city, making this a distinct and recognizable part of town with its own set of homeowner considerations.

Homes on Glencoe's south side, particularly those near Buffalo Creek, deserve extra attention to water and drainage. Proximity to a creek and low-lying ground can mean a higher water table, wetter basements, and slower-draining yards, all amplified by the area's clay-rich prairie soils.
